The Ryeland Just Wood cot bed is one of the only cot beds to be designed and built entirely in the UK and combines both excellent design and high quality materials. Handmade to last from birth to 8 years, it offers great value for money and grows with your child. Each cot has three mattress base levels and a inverted curved rail for easy access for parents. When converted into a junior bed using all the same parts, a bench forms to provide a fun 'grown up' space for all your child's toys and accessories.

Materials

Each cot bed is unique and handmade using only 100% Solid Beech wood, from certified sustainable sources. We chose solid beech wood because not only is it a very smooth timber, but it is also known as one or the most hygienic, commonly used in food preparation products such as chopping boards due to its anti-bacterial properties. Unlike some cots, we only use non-toxic, formaldehyde free glues to guarantee a safe, durable structure for your baby. Many cheaper woods such as MDF contain high levels of cancer-causing formaldehyde which was recently classified as a known human carcinogen. The high grade solid wood materials promise that the Ryeland cot bed can be handed down from generation to generation.

Finishes

We don't all look the same, and our nursery furniture shouldn't either! The Little Green Sheep believes that each cot should be as unique as your child, which is why every Ryeland Just Wood cot bed is lightly hand finished in a natural wood oil (containing a mix of linseed oil and orange oil). The solvent-free oil lifts the unique variation of tones in the timber whilst sealing the cot with an odorless barrier resistant to stains and spills.

Junior Bed Conversion

The unique, sustainable, design also means there is little or no wastage. Unlike most cot bed's which waste on average 40% of the cot as it is transformed into the bed, the Ryeland has been specifically designed so all the components in the cot and reused again when it is converted into junior bed mode. So nothing to store or take to the tip and better for the environment!

The cot converts into the junior bed by detaching and turning the back section of the cot to form the frame of the junior bed. The front section of the cot then places face down to form the platform for the bed, with the conversion kit including the curved railings and caps supplied separately to complete the look. The small shelf on the junior bed is created when the railings are attached, perfect for your child to store toys and their other precious possessions.
