Why organic?

Here at The Little Green Sheep, we don't hug trees or grow our own vegetables, but we do believe that using nature's own properties rather than cheaper chemical substitutes is best for babies!

So here are our three reasons why we think buying organic is good:

No More Chemicals!

Most organic products are free from any harmful chemicals, pesticides or dyes helping to provide a safer and more natural sleeping environment for your baby.

Quality

We have found that organic materials mean fine quality, and help in providing a long-lasting, breathable and supportive mattress.

Environment

Avoiding the use of any pesticides and herbicides in the growing of the organic cotton, or any bleaches and dyes in the manufacturing process, helps to protect the environment.

Organic VS. Natural

There are some fundamental differences between organic and 'natural' products, particularly when it comes to baby mattresses. Here we will try and explain these differences and how they affect you and your baby.

Whilst natural cot mattresses are a definite improvement on cheaper foam or sprung based alternatives, some chemicals are often still used (e.g. fireproof chemicals and pesticides). In addition to this, natural cot mattresses tend to offer less long-term support for your baby, due to fewer layers of wool.

Organic cot mattresses are certified by an independent body (The Soil Association) to ensure your baby's mattress uses only the finest quality organic cottons and wools. This guarantees that neither the mattress nor the materials that go into making it have been treated with any chemicals whatsoever; so you can rest peacefully knowing that your baby is surrounded in a safe, truly natural sleeping environment.

Remember to look out for the Soil Association seal of approval on all organic products.
