Here at The Little Green Sheep, we don't hug trees or grow our own vegetables, but we do believe
that using nature's own properties rather than cheaper chemical substitutes is best for babies!
Three reasons why we choose organic:
Free From Chemicals
None of our mattresses are treated with fire retardant chemicals or anything else for that matter; making it better for babies and for the environment too!
Sustainability
Using natural materials like organic fleece wool (which is sheered seasonally for the sheep's wellbeing) is more sustainable than foam
and helps ensure we can manufacture for years to come, without damaging the environment.
Quality
Only the best will do! All of the materials and ingredients we use are carefully processed to ensure that their natural qualities remain, so little loved ones can enjoy the comfiest night's sleep around!
There are some fundamental differences between organic and 'natural' products, particularly when it comes to baby mattresses. Here we will try and explain these differences and how they affect you and your baby.
Whilst natural cot mattresses are a definite improvement on cheaper foam or sprung based alternatives, some chemicals are often still used (e.g. fireproof chemicals and pesticides). In addition to this, natural cot mattresses tend to offer less long-term support for your baby, due to fewer layers of wool.
Organic cot mattresses are certified by an independent body (The Soil Association) to ensure your baby's mattress uses only the finest quality organic cottons and wools. This guarantees that neither the mattress nor the materials that go into making it have been treated with any chemicals whatsoever; so you can rest peacefully knowing that your baby is surrounded in a safe, truly natural sleeping environment.
